ViewText was created to make browsing news articles and blog posts easier on mobile phones. It launched after being created for ihackernews.com, which is a mobile version of Y Combinator’s Hacker News. The idea came from Arc 90’s Readability project.

ViewText transforms web pages into an easy to read format, cleaned of navigation elements, scripts, and other obtrusive objects, leaving big, easy to read text. You give ViewText a URL, and it returns just the content you want to view. ViewText also handles RSS feeds, transforming feeds which contain snippets of content into a new feed containing the full article content. Future releases of ViewText will handle additional formats.
